Our 10-year-old daughter Natalie has been getting antsy in school due to a lack of advanced and GATE programs in our district. Currently in 5th grade, in math she was assessed at a high school level and in reading she’s scoring at an 8th grade level.

We are excited to announce that Natalie is one of the exclusive nominees to attend a special summer STEM and Leadership program for gifted students in Los Angeles. It’s a great opportunity for her to expand her academics as well as meet other kids like her. It will be a week long program in July where she will attend all day (8:00am-8:00pm).

She will have three meals a day there, attend leadership meetings, and have tons of great learning opportunities. Some of her classes will include: medical science, crime scene investigation/ forensics science, engineering, and robotics/ programming. She will even dissect a real calf heart!

Then after dinner, she will have social time with her peers with things like game night and live entertainment. (While there was a residential program option, we feel more comfortable having her sleep at home, so we will be commuting to Los Angeles every day).

The total cost is about $3,950 and while we know there are other summer STEM programs that cost less, we have researched this one and are confident that the real-life tools and lab equipment, meals, professors, and exclusive opportunity are worth it.

To help with the cost of the program, we are reaching out to our “village” and asking if you would be willing to partner with our family and donate toward her tuition. I wish we could truly express how excited she is for this opportunity that not many other students get, and we are so grateful for your support.
