Help Fund my Study Abroad Trip to South Africa

My name is Nyla Wright and I am from Philadelphia, PA. I am a senior Sports Medicine major with a minor in Psychology at Howard University. The university is sponsoring a study abroad program, Summer 2023, to South Africa through its Howard University Zulu In South Africa (HUZISA) program. This is the first study abroad program from Howard University that is traveling to South Africa. The HUZISA program will last 6 weeks and will take place in the provinces of Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal, including both urban and rural settings. Dr. Phiwokuhle Mnyandu, Professor of World Languages, Cultures and African Studies, will be leading this trip which will include visiting cities such as Johannesburg, Durban, and KwaNongoma. The HUZISA program’s purpose is to strengthen knowledge of the Zulu language and its culture. Students will stay with a host family which will enhance our understanding of the language and culture.

The total cost of the program is $8,500 which includes airfare, tuition, room and board. I received a Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) scholarship in the amount of $7,500. I am asking for assistance with the balance of the cost. Any amount donated is very much appreciated.
