Fund my Parasurfing World Championships for Team England
Donation protected
Hi, my name is James Price and I am raising funds to attend the Para-surf world championships in Huntington Beach, California later this year. I am extremely honoured to be selected to represent Surf England in the Prone category, after winning gold in the open prone category at the Surf England championships in July.
Parasport and fitness has / is always paramount to my positive mental health since breaking my neck, competition gives me drive, after the first time nearly 20 years ago for wheelchair rugby, I will be representing my country again and is simply magical.
Over the next 2 months I will be spending any spare income paying for diesel and fees for surfing, to and from Bude in Cornwall, and The Wave surf centre in Bristol from Brixham twice weekly to get as much prep in as possible! This is on top of my gym and cardio fitness program. As much as I wish I had 2500 pounds at the drop of a hat to pay for flights, accommodation etc in California, having a three-year-old daughter, a large mortgage and the cost of living crisis that we'll face every day, any help will be greatly appreciated.
If you would be interested in sponsoring me for my surfing, surf board, other associated costs, please get in touch :)
I could always be training more, competing more, doing more, if funds allowed.
All funds will go into a dedicated 'James Price Surfing' bank account where every withdrawal will be traceable and accountable.
FUNDING NEEDS: Surfing England will be providing all the kit to wear, entry fees, coaching and support staff but as a relatively new sport funds are limited. I will need to pay for extra training / coaching sessions leading up to the event, including driving from Brixham to Bude weekly, Bristol to the Wave centre, and hopefully a pre-competition training camp in the USA. I will also need to pay for my flights to the USA and Accommodation, living costs for the entirety of the week long event and other time out there in preparation.
Me:
I broke my neck in a diving accident in 1999 leaving me mostly paralysed below the chest with a loss of temperature and pain sensation, and with a degree of impairment in my arms and hands. I have competed for Great Britain in wheelchair rugby in 2006 and in athletics at the London Marathon 2017 in the quadriplegic category - sadly my Father died one month before that event and severely impacted my mental health, and obviously preparation, training and competition. I got through that marathon and donned the kit for him in 2017, this one is for my daughter!
I am a full time wheelchair user, I work part time for Max Wheelchairs Ltd. and I am a Father to a 3 year old girl who I care for 50% of the time.
Any funds received will be gratefully accepted and used explicitly for this 2024 world championship campaign to California, any excess if I am that lucky, will be used for surfing moving forward.
