Hello,
I am Bea. In January 2026, I experienced a severe decline in mental health following traumatic experiences and extreme burnout from a lack of mental health support. I was heavily suicidal and almost took my life. I took the very difficult decision to temporarily withdraw from my University course in March.
As I had a break from education, my student finance (the amount of money the government gives me to fund my studies) is extremely low. This is not enough to cover my rent, let alone give me enough money for food and other necessities. My rent is £624 a month, and my student finance is only giving me £3077 for the entire year (for reference, I usually receive around 5-6K). I can barely cover 5 months of rent when I need to pay for 11 months, and that’s not including food, wifi, bus tickets, etc.
My first rent payment is due on the 1st of Ocrober, before I receive my first student loan payment.
I have emergency savings that I will definitely be digging into, but even that is only £700, only enough for an extra month of rent.
The £1200 would cover a few more months of rent - I hope by this time, I will have a consistent stream of income. I would really appreciate absolutely any help I can get.
My mental health is already very fragile from recovering from the events of this year. I am doing this all with zero support financially and very little emotional support in my real life. I want to recover from this traumatic period in my life and I am unable to do so with the threat of money and being unable to live lingering over my head.
I will be trying to find work and making money through any side-hustle I can, but I do not know if I will be able to make the difference in money alone.
If you tell me your identity in your donation, I will be willing to draw you anything you’d like, too. I really, really appreciate everything, even if this was just shared. I really want to finish my studies and I cannot afford to go into debt. Even just sharing helps me out greatly.
Thank you,
Bea
