Hi, my name is Ethan, and most of you may know me as BtecASMR from YouTube. Today I am asking a massive favour and seeking your help to fund my first year of university.

Not all of you may know this, but back in 2020, I attended university at UCA (University for the Creative Arts) to study film production for a year and 1 term of year 2. After my first term of year 2, I ultimately ended up leaving university to pursue YouTube after having issues with my time at university, dealing with loneliness, academic unfulfillment, and a change in passion. Since then, I have done YouTube, a Marketing Apprenticeship at Amazon (which I too ended up leaving for personal reasons), and now I am back at university studying Advertising at UAL (University of the Arts London).

The issue I am facing is that I am only able to get government loans for my 2nd and 3rd years at university; my first year has to be paid out of pocket. The reason for this is that in the UK, you are entitled to 4 years of tuition fee loans. I have used up 2 of my 4 years of loans - the one term I took of tuition fee counts as a whole year. I am unable to appeal to get back my full year of loan as I do not have sufficient evidence relating to mental health that would show I had to leave for extreme reasons out of my control.

As of 31/03/26, I have been suspended from any further education at my university until my fee is paid in full. This obviously has a significant impact on my growth and learning capabilities and could result in me resitting, which is not an option for me, as I would then have to pay another year out of pocket. If I am unable to continue studying, this will greatly impact my future prospects of quality of life and finding work. A further education will allow me to pursue my dreams that I fear are not attainable without it.

My family are not in a position to help fund my loan; one family member can contribute some money towards it, but cannot pay it in full. This is where I kindly ask you all for your generosity in supporting me and my future. I understand this is out of the blue, especially considering I have been inactive for a long time, and I have done a disservice to you all by not uploading content and leaving you all in the dark about me and my life. So I completely understand if anyone is put off by this request and wishes to remove themselves from this community.
