Help with my ACL reconstruction surgery cost.
Donation protected
My name is Izzy, I’m 18 years old and I attend Comberton Sixth Form and play for Histon FC. Unfortunately, in my final game for the school, I ruptured my ACL and tore my meniscus, which has put a stop to my footballing journey and day-to-day life. I have been playing football since I was 6 years old, playing for many local teams such as Comberton Crusader, Milton Colts and now currently Histon FC. Losing this valuable part of my life has damaged me in ways I would not wish upon anyone. For this injury, the current wait for an operation through the NHS is 18 months and so it is likely to be 2-3 years before I play football again and freely go about my daily life as I did before the injury. The realism of this has been tough to take and has already had a massive impact upon me.
During my 7 years at Comberton Village College, I have represented the girl’s school football team every year. For 6 years that has included attempting to win the ESFA National Cup. No team at Comberton had previously done this, until 2023 when I was a part of the U16 Girls team that won. Winning the National Cup and scoring the first goal in the final at Stoke City, was something that I could only have dreamt of. Since then, I have represented Comberton Sixth Form, playing for the U18 Girls who unfortunately lost in the 2024 final, before losing in the quarter-final this year. According to the PE department I am the school’s most capped player in the National Cup, playing in 32 games. These experiences have inspired me and hopefully other young girls at Comberton too.
Since the injury I have not been able to work as I did before, due to the risks associated with the injury. Equally my plans for life after Sixth form have been put on hold. Therefore, the reason for this page is to enable me to pay for the reconstruction surgery privately. My parents and I are not in the position to cover the entirety of the surgery alone. The cost of this surgery can be up to £9,000 and so any contributions towards this are much appreciated!
Thank you for taking the time to read this! Izzy :)
