Hi! My name is Louis Champoux, and I’m raising funds to attend the prestigious Inter-University Center for Japanese Language Studies (IUC) in Yokohama, Japan. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to pursue advanced language training for academic and professional growth.
What is the IUC?
The IUC is a renowned language institute founded by Stanford University and supported by a consortium of top North American universities. It offers intensive, graduate level Japanese language instruction tailored for those pursuing careers that require native fluency.
I’m excited to be attending the IUC’s 10-month program for 2025-2026, and I’ll begin my studies this fall.
Who am I?
I’m Louis, a lifelong learner with a deep passion for Japanese language and culture. What started with Japanese video games and anime as a kid grew into a full academic pursuit.
I recently graduated from Eastern Michigan University, earning a double major in Cybersecurity and Japanese Language & Culture. My goal is to build a career living and working in Japan, bridging technology between English and Japanese speaking communities.
The IUC program will give me the skills I need to communicate at the highest levels in Japanese and open doors to future opportunities in Japan.
What will your donation support?
Your donation will go directly toward expenses related to my study abroad, including:
- Housing and food expenses
- Travel and moving costs
- Textbooks and other learning materials
I was very fortunate to receive a scholarship from the IUC, so my tuition has been paid for. However, under my visa I will be unable to work during the program and your donation will largely go towards living costs like rent and food which are not fully covered by the scholarship.
I’m immensely grateful for any support you can give, whether it’s a donation, sharing this fundraiser, or just cheering me on. Your generosity will make a real difference in helping me reach my goals to build a life in Japan.
Thank you!
Louis Champoux
