Hello, we are Michael and Kimberly Postell, and we are the parents of Austin Mitchell. Our son was killed in Union City, Georgia, on March 3rd, 2019. Austin was a very bright young man with a bright future ahead of him; he was in college and working at Land Rover Jaguar and did not use drugs! He had no mental issues or illnesses and was energetic and positive. Austin had a very uplifting spirit that brightened anyone's day with whomever he met. Austin was a young Christian man who Loved God. He did whatever he could for anyone.
On March 3rd, 2019, Austin was killed; he was shot in the back of the head back to front shot at a downward angle. Someone shot him from behind, and the ones with Austin told the police that he did it to himself. The police did not investigate his murder; the police just took the young men who were at the crime scene word and labeled it as a suicide without a full formal investigation.
A few facts on the case:
Austin was picked up by the person who had the gun.
The gun that killed Austin was the same gun the person had who picked up Austin.
There were at least three others in the apartment during the shooting, and they ALL left the scene and did not call the police or 911 EMS.
After 45 minutes, they returned, and the first responding Officer who saw them said, "They all looked like they took showers."
When they were questioned at the scene, they all said they touched the gun.
The medical examiner said the death was undetermined because additional investigation was needed. The Fulton County DA office had another medical examiner from another city and county look at the case, and the second medical examiner said, "The gunshot was very concerning and atypical of a self-inflicted wound."
I hired a private investigator, and he, in turn, found other evidence pointing to it was not suicide at all, which we already knew. However, the private investigator also stated that it was a homicide, not suicide. The police again have not done anything to date.
We're still struggling and fighting for justice for our son, Austin. A donation will be greatly appreciated and needed to retain and pay for the attorney fees and cost. Every donation will be greatly appreciated, and we thank you all so much for hearing our story.
We appreciate your prayers and donations; thank you, the Postell family. God bless you all.
