Fund Leah's Journey into The Void

Help us produce the World Premiere of SPONSORED BY THE VOID this October!

SPONSORED BY THE VOID is a psychosexual queer feminist horror comedy about how much women’s agency, desire, and happiness matter. A comedic exploration of the despair and disassociation that women experience as they meet everyone else’s needs before attending to their own, this play spotlights the relationship and fascination that we have with The Void in the midst of that dulled rage. At its heart, it is a story that gives women permission to look their own desire and despair right in the mouth.

For this production, we are bringing the show to two private Seattle residences for an intimate and limited run. Your support will help us pay the artists involved, bring design visions to life, and take care of the less sexy but integral administrative demands of putting on a show!

What exactly is Leah's Journey Into The Void?
Well...Leah is fine. Her job is fine. Her long-term boyfriend is… fine. And if she feels like screaming into a pillow at night, hey, who doesn’t?

But when Leah is approached by a literal manifestation of The Void with an intriguing offer -- sponsorship of Leah‘s upcoming Halloween party -- she must decide what she’s willing to risk to reclaim her agency. Are all her choices inevitable? Can she choose to just opt out? After all, a woman’s place is in The Void.

Who is involved?
Written and directed by Melanie Godsey, the play will feature Kelly Karcher* as Leah, Be Russell* as Val, Ayo Tushinde as Mia, Jon Lutyens* as Kennedy, and Jennifer Ewing as THE VOID (*Member of Actors’ Equity Association). The show will be stage managed by Kathryn Louise.

The Co-Conspirators are a producing collective dedicated to telling stories by and for women and non-binary theatre artists, creating the kind of work that excites and challenges us as artists and theatregoers.
