This fundraiser is co-organised by Henry Creightney on behalf of Leah Dockery towards her tertiary education. Here's her story:
Hello, my name is Leah Dockery, and I am a 20-year-old ibex customer service agent working with FedEx from Jamaica. Although I have never travelled outside of my country before, it has always been my desire and lifelong goal to pursue my childhood dream of attending a university abroad to study for the degree of my choice. In the past year, my dreams came true as I was accepted to study an LLB (Hons) in Law at St. Mary's University, Twickenham, which is located in London, England.
Unfortunately, due to certain circumstances, my family was unable to accumulate the required funds for my tuition and living expenses during my deferment year, which would allow me to acquire my CAS number and Student visa to study in the physical realm of the university grounds. Therefore, I am required to reapply to my firm choice through the UCAS portal for the second time and restart the process for the 2026/2027 academic year. However, my reapplication process was successful on my end, as I received yet another unconditional offer from St. Mary's University.
Though I am going through an ongoing battle in my personal life to acquire a higher education, this only makes my long-term goals of becoming the person I envision ten years in the future to become crystal clear, which only makes my ambition strengthen further from the root. I do not believe that I should just give up my dreams because of one setback, as everyone goes through life at different paces. Also, a wise person once told me that if you give up your dreams, then you are giving up yourself.
This fundraiser will benefit me greatly as it will help take the pressure off my parents and will help me be one step closer to achieving my dream of receiving international schooling abroad.
Your kind donation would be highly appreciated. Thank You :)
