We Love Laura!

Edit:
Laura can no longer receive any treatments for her brain tumour, and she is now on palliative care. She is still happy and having as many adventures as possible, and following the love and support we received once this news was shared, we have reopened the GoFundMe so that anyone who wants to donate can do so.

Original:
Laura has been living with a brain tumour diagnosis since August 2016, and since then has been through a long course of different treatments to keep it under control. This includes surgery, radiotherapy, and she is now on her fifth different course of chemotherapy, due to previous types of chemo losing their ability to keep the tumour at bay. We have been told by her oncologist that after the type of chemo Laura is having at the moment, there are no further avenues of treatment available to her on the NHS.

We have recently found out about an encouraging treatment available privately, called modulated electro-hyperthermia, or just oncothermia. This treatment is designed to deliver targeted, precise hyperthermia therapy, which enhances the efficacy of conventional treatments by increasing tumour sensitivity to chemotherapy and radiation. Oncothermia has seen good results elsewhere in the world, and any extra time we can add to Laura’s life is obviously a very high priority!

We have already been down to London so Laura can have the first 3 courses of oncothermia, but she will need to have a lot more appointments - lined up with her chemotherapy treatments - to obtain the best results. It is because of this that we have decided to create this page, because at £1,000 per treatment, and 3 treatments needed per round of chemo, we are looking at £18,000 in oncothermia costs alone. We also have the additional costs of travelling down to London every month or so, which unfortunately cannot be bought too far in advance due to having to wait to see if Laura can have chemotherapy thanks to her bloods being so bad most of the time.

Laura is very selfless and has no problem raising money for charities, in fact she has already raised over £5,500 for Brain Tumour Research over the last few years - but when it comes to asking for help for herself she is not so enthusiastic! I have told her that so many people love her and would prefer if she stayed around a bit longer, but it has still been a bit of an effort to get her to agree to set this page up!!

Please help in any way you can, even just by sharing this page. Laura is the loveliest person I know, and I want her to have the longest and happiest life possible.
