Request
Dear Community, family, and friends: I am a Black lesbian scientist and artist asking for support to pay for my last 2 classes of grad school to stabilize my career with a degree.
I appreciate the support so far, which helped fund the 9th class. Man, asking for money sucks, but there is a HOLD on my Hopkins account until I can pay for the last class to graduate, and maybe even walk the stage.
I have faced a lot of triumph and ready to make my science career secure and permanent. Thank you for joining me
Since 2019, I have an A/A- average in a 10 class master's program at John Hopkins University for Individualized Genomics & Health; studying precision medicine and genomic therapy for disease. I am READY TO WRAP UP my program this Spring and GRADUATE, which will get me to a permanent position in my career! I appreciate all your support so far♥️
$ breakdown
Graduate school is entirely out of pocket, but I only have TWO classes left! The previous 6 classes were reimbursed by a previous research lab that laid me off due to COVID. Then I was in a near fatal vehicle accident and wrecked my car. I saved to self-pay my 7th class, but need community support for the FINAL TWO CLASSES WAHOOOO. i just really want to graduate.

Background
As many know, I am both a scientist and artist. I have been an artist all my life and have been in science for the past 12+ years. I received a Bachelors in Cell Biology & Genetics in undergrad, which drained me $40,000+ into student loan debt. In Biotech, it is essential to have at LEAST a Masters or PhD to work in a scientist role. This is a requirement.
I am a multidisciplinary artist with tangible work in community work and activism.
Art has been a lifesaver from mental illness due to family trauma and disability from PTSD, depression, anxiety, etc.
Recent artistry:
Wherewithal 2022 grantee - creating an anthropology novel with other Black and brown artists, grantee out of 116 applicants
Writing a poetry prose book

For 2+ years throughout the pandemic, it has been my honor duty to assist with accessibility about COVID through education and support both offline and online.
I have been a major source of community care and support, from fundraising thousands for BLM, vaccine education for DC Mutual Aid, housing assistance through STAY DC; shared scientific advice about COVID throughout quarantine, sharing research papers, making and posting science vlogs for DIY artists, disabled and neurodivergent folks, neighbors and more.
education about variants, mRNA vaccine, antibodies, PCR, antigen, immunity etc. Clinical and Molecular diagnostics, PCR analysis, Genes and Disease, Immunology, Bioinformatics, Molecular Genetics.
I want to keep helping and sharing as much as possible as i move forward.
