Hey there! Thanks for taking the time to read this! My name is Krista and I am trying to raise funds for an upcoming spine surgery. Long story as short as possible…I had scoliosis correction surgery at age 12 with two twelve inch rods and 11 vertebrae fused together. I lived a normal life for 24 years but excruciating pain came back 12 years ago. The last 12 years have been beyond difficult to say the least. I have been unable to work causing lower quality of life, financial strain, depression, isolation and anxiety. I saw several surgeons in the area where I live. None of them would operate on me because the surgery is so complicated and high risk. Praise God in March I had an appointment with one of the top scoliosis surgeons in the country in NYC. He is willing to operate and is confident the surgery will be successful. Surgery is scheduled for August 21st. The recovery will be very painful and will take a year or longer but it’s worth it to get my life back. I am asking this only because I am desperate. The costs associated with this are going to be devastating. My husband is going to have to take 2-3 months off work without pay to take care of me. We will have to fly to NYC at least 6 times within the next year. We have to stay at an Airbnb near the hospital for at least 5 weeks after surgery and pay for accommodations, food, etc. for every post op visit. We have to pay for Ubers anywhere we go as I can’t walk up/down stairs for subway nor ride the subway or public transit because of my back. We have to pay someone to stay with and care for our pets, groceries, the medical costs not covered by insurance and our usual monthly bills. All of this is painfully overwhelming and wreaking havoc on my emotional and mental wellbeing. God is good and He is beyond faithful and He WILL bring me through this just like He has brought me through every other trial I have faced. I ask with a humble and hopeful heart that if you are willing and able to help in any way, please do. We estimate that all of this will cost $20,000-$25,000. I hate asking anyone for help, but again, I am absolutely desperate. Whether you can help a little, a lot or not at all, thank you for listening.
