Hey y’all! This is Kenzie, the writer and director of Girl Group Talk, a brand new play coming to CalArts this spring. I’m really excited to bring this project to life and wanted to give you a little run down of what you’d be donating to. In this satire, the audience is introduced to a group of 5 girls who form a close bond rather quickly, but sooner rather than later the group that they’ve formed collapses and devolves into madness. To boil it down, Girl Group Talk is about how you can love your friends to the point of hatred. It’s about young adult girlhood, casual conformity, and the ways in which you lose your identity to your sense of belonging in a friend group. I want this play to be able to meet its fullest potential and for my designers to have a budget to play with so to do that we need your help! We open mid to late March and are in need of funding to make this project something special. Funding will support costuming, scenic design, and other day to day production needs. Anything you can give would be greatly appreciated by this student artist trying to get her first production on its feet.
