My name is Amber and I'm fundraising for my heart dog, Karma.
Karma is a 12.5 year old husky cross and the love of my life for the past almost nine years. Recently, she has developed a growth on her rib that has been determined to be a type of sarcoma, though which type is not 100% certain yet.
Karma has had several diagnostics and CT scans run to determine the viability of surgical removal of this tumour and the prognosis is very good. She is in excellent health for her age and likely has years of happy, high quality life ahead of her, but first she needs to face this surgery.
The plan is to remove the growth and have it sent for testing, but a chondrosarcoma is highly suspected, which is an 'easier' cancer to get rid of. Most canine patients go on to live without complications related to the cancer after its removal. This is what we want for Karma.
The costs of the surgery will range anywhere from $7,000 to $10,000 CDN. We are already almost $4,000 into these procedures without the costs of the surgery included. Anything would help! Karma's mom will be on a steady diet of struggle puffs for the next little while either way.
Karma and I thank you for coming to our Ted Talk. :)
