I am incredibly lucky. I have a great network of friends, a supportive wife, and a strong community supporting me through difficult events in the last year. My health insurance should pay for one surgery that I need to feel more like the woman I am.
Unfortunately, my insurance doesn't cover other medically necessary costs such as hair removal before the surgery. There are also miscellaneous costs associated with transitioning, and with four young kids at home we have limited financial options.
Giving back is a top priority for me, and I will continue supporting trans people who don’t have the same access, especially Black trans women. I’ll donate a portion of these proceeds, as well as any additional raised, to similar crowdfunding efforts by Black trans women and other trans people of color.
What you’re funding:
1) My legal name change fees.
2) Electrolysis and Laser Hair removal, medically required before surgery. The cost varies, so the total need may go up or down and we’ll adjust this campaign if needed.
3) Professional Ear Piercings.
4) Voice training lessons.
These first steps will help me be myself more openly and significantly improve my health.
