Fund Jorge's Funeral: A Family's Appeal
Donation protected
Hello, my name is La Shawn, and I'm helping my aunt Ana raise funds to pay for my grandfather, her father's funeral and left over medical expenses.
Jorge Montes, was 94 when he passed away during the early hours of May 11, 2025 -- Mother's Day. He was a beloved father (to five), beloved step-father (to one), grandfather and great grandfather (to many!). Jorge moved from Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico to Spanish Harlem, New York in the late 1940s, a place he was to meet his beloved wife Isabel Montes, who passed away two and a half years ago.
Jorge lived a full life. He enjoyed music, spending time with his family and dancing. He also loved violet candies and always smelled of lavender because of it (there wasn't a day that he didn't have a pack of violets in his jacket pocket).
For decades, Jorge worked at a factory in Long Island until his retirement. Despite having dedicated so many years to the company, they did not provide him with a retirement plan or funds or a life insurance policy that would have covered events like these.
While our family is big, not all of us can afford to put money toward these costs. Therefore, we are asking anyone, who can, to please help us fund his funeral arrangement and pay any remaining medical bills. No amount is too little. The Montes', and extended family thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
