JJ: A Southern Film Exploring Masculinity and Emotion

Donation protected
JJ is a short film that explores masculinity, repressed emotion, and tenderness between two young men in small-town America. Trevor and JJ have been best friends since they were kids, and there aren't a lot of boundaries between them: they share each other's clothes, cut each other's hair, sleep in the same bed, and even hook up with girls together. But one winter day, everything will change, as they contend with unspoken feelings, secret longings, and the realization that to grow up, they may have to grow apart.

A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR

Thanks so much for stopping by and supporting us. JJ is a really special film to me, because it's about something we rarely see in movies: vulnerable men struggling with expressing their feelings. I'm interested in telling stories that address the complexities of desire, the spectrum of sexuality, and the unique pressures of living in the South. But JJ is an especially relatable project for me, because it centers the importance of friendship in our formative years. It's a film for anyone who misses the best friends of their youth -- all the people we cherished as we grew up, made mistakes, and became who we are now.

My last short, ALLEY CAT, just had its world premiere at The New Orleans Film Festival, and as it continues its journey, it's really important that we build on its momentum, creating a new short that expands on the kinds of stories my team and I love to tell. By supporting JJ, you'll not only help us to make the best film we can possibly make, you'll also be supporting the long-term careers of my collaborators and I as we build a portfolio and move towards our dream of creating large-scale films here in Central Arkansas.
