Jenson has a life limiting, progressive muscle wasting condition (Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy) together with another chromosome condition (1q.21.1 duplication).

Unfortunately we struggle to get the hydrotherapy treatments to help him, which aren’t available on the NHS. Hydrotherapy involves a specialist physiotherapist to carry out stretches and exercises with Jenson in a warm water pool. Normal swimming pools can cause issues due to the cool water tightening muscles, leading Jenson to experiencing pain.

Hydrotherapy enables Jenson to move freely in the water, whereby his movements are restricted on land. The water buoyancy enables him to jump and hop, which he loves doing.

The stretches and exercises help Jenson’s condition and reduces the risk on contractures, whereby joints can become rigid and fixed.

Jenson’s wellbeing also improves because he has a lot of fun and enjoyment.

We also want to fund for making special memories for Jenson. He loves days out and travelling and we know in future when he loses mobility, it will be more difficult to do.

He is a very happy chappy who loves life and we want to help him get the right help to alleviate pain and discomfort and for wonderful memories to be made.
