For over a decade, I’ve poured my heart and soul into my craft—first as a master barber and now as an artist, painting and sculpting pieces that express my vision of the world. Art has always been my refuge, a place where I can channel my passion, emotions, and dreams. But today, I’m facing a challenge that no brush or chisel can fix alone.

I am living with HIV, and like many others, I have relied on Medicaid to access the life-saving medication and medical care I need to stay healthy. Recently, I lost my Medicaid coverage, leaving me in a terrifying position: without the resources to afford my medication, upcoming surgeries, and—most critically—the post-surgical care necessary for my recovery.

As someone who is immunocompromised, proper post-surgery care is not just important—it’s essential. Without it, I am at a significantly higher risk of infections and complications that could put my life in danger. Healing after surgery requires careful monitoring, medications, and follow-up care, all of which are now out of reach without financial support. Missing even a few days of medication or lacking adequate post-operative treatment could have devastating consequences.

I’ve always been someone who prides myself on resilience, but now, I need help to keep fighting. I’m reaching out to my community, my supporters, and anyone who believes in the power of standing together during tough times. Every contribution—no matter how small—brings me closer to staying on the medication I need, undergoing the necessary surgeries, and ensuring I get the crucial post-care support required to heal safely.
