Fund Hollywood's Kissing Spine Surgery
Donation protected
Hey y'all! My name is Georgia Stewart and I am a riding instructor with Northcrest Riding Academy. Melody Parker and I, are reaching out on behalf of the Shadow Creek Ranch and Northcrest Riding Academy family, with a very special request.
First, I want to introduce the young lady in the photo. For those who don't know, this is one of our riding students, Haleigh Rice, and her barrel horse, Hollywood. Haleigh purchased Hollywood in December as a replacement for her previous barrel horse who went unexpectedly lame a couple years ago. Since December, this pair has been working to prepare for their upcoming high school rodeo season.
On Friday, June 21st, we were having the last day of our annual barrel racing camp. The day started like any other but took a turn for the worst when Haleigh's horse, Hollywood, nearly collapsed while Haleigh was trying to get on. Haleigh and her mom acted quickly and got Hollywood to our local vet as fast as they could. While at the vet they learned that Hollywood has 4 fused vertebrae, commonly referred to as kissing spine. They were told that Hollywood's condition would require a major surgery and up to 6 months recovery to correct. The surgery is estimated to cost around $5,000. As you can imagine, this news was absolutely devastating to Haleigh as she was working hard towards her goal of making the top ten in NTHSRA next year. While the pair may not be competing in high school rodeo anytime soon, Hollywood is young, she has her whole career ahead of her and should be a good candidate for the surgery.
As many of you may know, horses are NOT cheap, especially when major surgery is involved. That is where y'all come in, we are asking that you consider donating to help Haleigh and her family raise the funds to get Hollywood the surgery she needs and get her back in the rodeo arena with Haleigh as soon as possible. Donations of any amount will help and are greatly appreciated!
