Fund Garfield 5th Grade Celebrations and Trips
Donation protected
Hi there!
I'm Ms. Landheer, and I teach 5th Grade at Garfield Elementary School in Oakland, California. Garfield students are curious, creative, and joyful learners. I look forward to going to work every day to see my students and witness their growth.
Every year, Garfield teachers and families go above and beyond to give our students memorable experiences throughout the school year. We try to take our students on a number of field trips to enhance their educational experiences, and we host several end of year events for our 5th graders as they prepare to move on to middle school.
Some of the field trips we attend include visiting the Exploratorium in San Francisco, the Oakland Museum for the annual Black History Month performance, Reinhardt Redwoods Regional Park, and many more. While we are sometimes able to secure grants for these field trips, we typically have to cover the costs of transportation to these events on our own. Unsurprisingly, the cost of transportation for 100 fifth graders and our chaperones can quickly add up!
At Garfield, like many elementary schools, we have a tradition of celebrating our fifth graders as they prepare to leave our school and continue their journey in middle school. Our end of year events for fifth graders include an annual Field Day, 5th Grade Dance, and 5th Grade Promotion (graduation) Ceremony. These events are joyous and memorable experiences for our students and their families and are typically done using donations from families, staff, and their networks.
Instead of collecting donations throughout the year, we are hoping to raise enough money at the start of the year to know confidently that we will have the funds we need to give our students the experiences they deserve throughout the year.
Thank you in advance for any donation you are able to give! It means so much to me and our entire community! <3
