Fund for Kathryn Whitmer's Triplets

Donation protected

With heartfelt sorrow, we ask for your support for the family of a dear friend and team member, Kathryn Whitmer. Kathryn died tragically Friday, June 8th after suffering a stroke related to her pregnancy.

Kathryn spent her eight-year career at SmithBucklin supporting the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC) and the Society of Pediatric Nurses (SPN), most recently as Operations Manager for both organizations. She was the primary staff liaison for NSGC’s Membership, Nominating and Finance Committees and the JEMF Advisory group and helped facilitate the Leadership Development Program. Kathryn provided overall support to all of SPN’s committees and served as the primary liaison for SPN’s Clinical Practice and Research Committees.

Kathryn served the members and missions of our societies with passion and perseverance. She provided guidance and support to numerous volunteers as they navigated and contributed to our organizations, and she did so with grace and professionalism. She pushed us to be better and to think about the influence and impact we had through the decisions we made. Our communities were blessed to share in her friendship, sense of humor, and kind heart.

Kathryn leaves behind her husband Charlie and their triplets Robert Keith (Bobby), James Paul (JP) and Arden Kathryn, who were born on Monday, June 4th. All three babies are currently being cared for in the NICU. In her death, she also brought life and hope to five families through organ donation.

Words cannot express our sadness at the loss of Kathryn. We are incredibly thankful for all she gave to us and hope this fundraiser serves as a way for us to give back to her, honor her memory and provide a foundation for the future needs of the triplets.

To maximize the impact of your generosity, NSGC will match your contributions up to $25,000 and will pay the platform fees on your behalf so that your entire donation goes to support Bobby, JP and Arden. NSGC and SPN are also considering other ways to honor Kathryn’s memory and her contributions to our societies.
