FUND FOR SHANE'S STOLEN MUSIC EQUIPMENT
Donation protected
Hey, Samantha Urbani here.
My incredible friend & independent musician Shane McKillop has been my main collaborator/music director for my upcoming live shows.
Yesterday he packed up his truck in Santa Ynez with ALL the gear needed for us to set up a temp rehearsal space in LA, and to play the upcoming shows we have booked.
His truck was broken into within hours of parking- on a quiet, residential street- and about $7,000 worth of equipment was stolen.
We're heartbroken and livid- and at the moment we are without all the things we need to make these upcoming shows work- which is also so much of Shane's livelihood in general. Equipment he uses to do everything he does as a musician.
Here's the breakdown of our $7k goal:
2 QSC10's - $1500
1 2012 UAD Apollo Quad - $1500
1 Mesa Boogie 1x12" Walkabout Scout Bass Amp - $900
1 XR Air18 mixing console - $600
10 XLRS - $400
1 Anvil case for bass amp - $300
Shure Beta 58 $300
1 iPad - $250
Shure Beta 91a - $250
Hedra Merit Pedal - $200
Internet router- $150
1 TRS to XLR 6ft snake- $150
Envelope Filter Pedal - $150
1 Pelican Case- $150
Chorus Pedal - $60
=$6,860
Rounded it up to 7 for the time he's losing this week dealing with police reports, sorting things out, etc.
Anything/everything helps. If by some miracle, we find all this stolen stuff- of course we'll cancel this fundraiser and all donations will be refunded.
My first solo album "Showing Up" comes out next week- this record has felt like a testament to survival, endurance, and commitment to art, as it's coming after many hardships that interrupted my career previously. My album release show, which Shane and I have been producing together, is planned for 9/25. It means a lot to me, and to us.
It's hard enough for independent artists to play shows, make records, collaborate with each other, and keep the culture of live music ALIVE- I generally break even on the shows I play after expenses- but at times like these, it feels impossible- with the continual smash-and-grab thefts that have become SO COMMON they're basically seen as par for the course of touring.
Some of this equipment Shane's had since he was a teenager. Some is sentimental or super fine tuned/personalized. Although these things are irreplaceable, we have to do what we can.
I'm really hoping to do everything I can to show up for an incredibly supportive, hard working, and community centered musician/friend and to help Shane buy back what was taken.
Thanks guys. I hope we can make it through this one.
xo
