Fund for Jim Heise

This fundraiser is being set up on behalf of Jim Heise
On December 10th, Jim was admitted to Inspira hospital where he was being treated for COVID Pneumonia. Jim is only 55 and has no underlying health conditions. Because of this, he was expected to recover, but as we all know COVID affects everyone differently. On December 23rd, after 13 days at Inspira, Jim went into distress and needed to be sedated and airlifted to the ICU at Penn Presbyterian. Upon arrival, he was placed on a ventilator and ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation). For those who don’t know, ECMO is an extreme form of life support that essentially bypasses the lungs and allows them to rest. The ECMO machine acts as the lungs by transporting blood from the body into the machine where oxygen is added to the blood and carbon dioxide is removed before sending it back into the body. In the 7 weeks that Jim has been at Penn Presby, he has undergone many procedures and experienced a lot of setbacks preventing his recovery including secondary infections, heart issues, and now dialysis. Jim has been fighting for his life and continues to battle every single day. Jim is young, strong, and a fighter and because of this, we remain positive and hopeful that Jim will overcome his strenuous battle with COVID Pneumonia.
Jim is a husband, father of four, beloved son and brother. He is a retired corrections officer and a Desert Storm Veteran. Jim has always been extremely active in his community, especially when it came to coaching his kids in youth sports. He was a favorite coach and second dad to so many. Most who know Jim know him as the "retired mayor of Mantua" because of his ability to become friends with anyone he meets. Jim truly is one of a kind.
To know Jim is to love Jim. He has a heart of gold and is always the first to help someone in need. With a long road of recovery ahead, we are setting up this fund to help Jim and his family with any medical or financial expenses that will occur.
Jim’s strong and fighting nature, along with all of your prayers and support will carry him through this very difficult time. We thank you all for your donations and continued prayers.
