Hi, my name is Sierra and I am hoping to set up a fundraiser for my mom who is a single mother of three and sick with cancer just trying to make ends meet. My mom was diagnosed with Stage IV mantle cell lymphoma last May. Since then, she has undergone chemotherapy at the Oregon Health Science University Hospital and has fared pretty well considering. She was close to full remission, but deeper testing revealed that the cancer is not as absent as her doctors would like to see. This cancer is incurable and the rates of relapse are high. Because of this, my mom’s physicians have suggested undergoing a stem cell transplant as they have been shown to elongate remission time and stave off relapse. She will undergo six days of very intense chemo beginning March 30, and will be admitted to the hospital for the transplant on April 4. By working as many days as she was able and with the financial help of family members, she has been able to keep up financially despite being quite ill from cancer and chemotherapy. Now, she must take leave without pay and for several months will not have any income to meet her financial needs and obligations. I am setting up this fundraiser in order to help my mom make it through these difficult times without income.
