Fund for Isaiah Wade's Family

For so many of us, 2020 has brought seemingly nonstop heartache and pain. For my cousin, Lavonne Mills, that pain is beyond comprehension.
A loving mother of six who has always worked hard to provide for her family, Lavonne was already mourning the loss of her husband Gibron in October when she got a call last week informing her of every mother’s nightmare: the murder of her brilliant 15 -year-old son Isaiah.
On December 7, Lavonne’s son, Isaiah Wade was fatally shot in the head behind his home. Isaiah was a sophomore at Mount Carmel High School where he had a 3.8 grade point average. He was a proud team member of both the Mt. Carmel Caravan football and lacrosse teams.

Injustice has robbed this family of two of their loved ones within a short interval. As an hourly worker for the city of Chicago, Lavonne receives only three days for bereavement leave. She has not had a chance to grieve because she is now her family’s sole breadwinner. She also has a young daughter with down syndrome.
Your support will allow Lavonne to care for the mental and physical well being of Isaiah’s siblings during this most challenging time of their lives. Additionally the funds will be used for Isaiah's memorial and to help the family pay their basic housing and utilities' costs as they find their way to a new normal of living without their brother and father. Lavonne is the direct beneficiary of this GoFundMe appeal and is able to directly withdraw the funds to be used to pay for outstanding bills including utilities, a memorial for Isaiah, and to find a new home where the family will feel safe.
I thank you on behalf of Lavonne and her family for your consideration and your generosity and ask that you kindly share this story with your network.
