We have both been incredibly inspired by the mission and vision behind Molo Mhlaba ("hello world" in Xhosa) and the gap it will fill both as a school and platform for community development in Khayelitsha. Molo will empower young girls with the education, foundation and inspiration they need to seek out opportunities for higher education and careers that will enable them to break the cycle of poverty in South Africa. The school is set to open in January 2018 and was counting on a grant to fund specific curriculum tools they need, but unfortunately it fell through.
We are hoping to raise enough to buy at least one school set ($2,500) for Molo and would greatly appreciate any donation you offer to help us reach this goal and create a strong learning environment for young girls in South Africa!

Also feel free to reach out to Madeline and I if you have any questions, we are always happy to talk about our experience!
P.S. If you're wondering why we are using gofundme vs. a site like crowdrise or another funding platform, most of these sites do not allow non-profits that are based outside of the US or Europe to register and host funding campaigns. This is unfortunate because these sites could really help grassroots non-profits like Molo gain access to other funding and break the cycle of dependency on large foreign funding organizations, instead of isolating them from organic growth opportunities. But if you would prefer to donate directly through Molo's website please feel more than welcome to do so under the "support us" tab!
