Fund for Berklee College of Music

My name is Evan Lux, and I am a young Composer from Charleston, South Carolina. Recently, I have been accepted to Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, looking to major in Film Scoring and Composition. My music career began when I was in fifth grade at the age of 10, where my teachers and parents urged me to begin playing the Violin. Since then, I have played in countless orchestras, including: The Youth Orchestra of the Lowcountry, the Charleston Symphony Youth Orchestra, the Charleston Symphony orchestra, and most recently, the Charleston County School of the Arts Orchestra. I have attended Regional, and Allstate Orchestras through the years as well. I first began composing music for Orchestra at the age of 12, where I wondered about how all of the Instruments might work together. I finished my first piece for full Symphony Orchestra (and Choir) at the age of 13, and had written at least 3 more before deciding to pursue formal studies in Music Composition. I have taken two College courses through Berklee College of Music Online (Orchestration I, and Music Composition for Film and TV I) and am currently attending Music Composition for film and TV 2, where I have written over 30 scores to go along with scenes from popular movies. My most recent achievement would have to be that at my high school, I am honored to be the first student to have ever composed a piece for full Symphony Orchestra, have it performed by the orchestra of my peers, and conduct it in concert. This is a truly powerful experience. My dream is to one day compose music for big-budget films, and hopefully be able to give my single mother a life that she deserves for all of the incredibly hard work and time she has put in, pushing me to achieve my fullest potential ever since I was a child. My goal of $37,000 is to help me attend Berklee College of Music - majoring in Film Scoring and Composition, reach my highest potential through music, and experience the beautifully inspiring city of Boston on my way to fulfilling my dream. Though I may not meet the goal of $37,000, any amount would surely help in my path, and I am incredibly grateful for anyone kind enough to have read my story.
