Fund for AJ's Teacher Preparation Program

Hello everyone, my name is AJ. As some of you may know, I have recently embarked on a journey to become a high school social studies teacher in Connecticut. I am almost done with my first semester and have two more to go.

I am becoming a teacher because I love learning, I love teaching, and I love kids. I believe there are a variety of ways in which people can love and support their communities. Becoming a public school teacher is a primary way I want to show up for my community and the young people of today, tomorrow, and beyond.

Teaching social studies is an important way I would like to contribute to the holistic formation of young people. I believe the high school classroom is a wonderful learning laboratory for young people to learn about who they are and how they want to exist in the world. I am becoming a social studies teacher because I want to co-create meaningful learning experiences that positively shape the lives of my students as they move about this chaotic world.

The funds I am raising will go directly to my graduate school tuition for Summer 2024 & Fall 2025 at Southern Connecticut State University. I am very fortunate to be at a phenomenal school known for its excellent teacher preparation program. While it is not wildly expensive, it still costs a lot of amount of money and I simply cannot pay directly out of pocket.
