Fund Emergency Dental Treatment
Donation protected
Hi Friends. I'm in a difficult situation right now regarding some extreme dental care I need urgently. My mouth needs to be rebuilt, requiring implants, crowns, and a bridge, likely due to the acid reflux I live with. I was in pain this past fall and went to the dentist; I ended up having three teeth extracted, with more work coming up that I haven’t begun yet. After healing from that, the pain eased up, and I’m trying to look on the bright side that this is a necessary regenerative process, getting rid of infection and fixing dysfunctional teeth for the next phase of life.
This is an expensive process, and I don’t have the money for it. I’ve been delicately balancing funds each month with what I earn, and this kind of expense is just out of my range to be able to cover.
The dental work includes several extractions (which I have begun), bone grafting to replace bone lost from the extractions, implants, a bridge, replaced crowns, and a root canal. Old crowns are failing and my teeth are eroding through resorption or from the acid reflux. I also have a chipped tooth from the assault that I would really like to get fixed.
I have looked into Tufts Dental School, a Costa Rican dental practice, Mass Health, and I’ve had eight consultations with different specialists recently. Tufts Dental school offers a small discount. I have an upcoming appointment with Harvard Dental School to see what they can offer in the student practice. Costa Rica is an option my brother has used with success, and it offers the biggest discount. If I were to pay market rates, I would be looking at about $30,000 worth of work. I’m going to choose a dental school or the Costa Rica option, but it will still be costly.
I wouldn’t be asking for money if I could think of another way of solving the problem. I have been encouraged by friends and acquaintances to go forward with this fund, and even so, it’s not an easy thing to do. If you can’t afford to help, please don’t feel stressed about it! I know what that’s like. But if you can help, know that I would be very grateful. And please pass this on to any groups you think might be able to support it. Know that I remember every kindness, and it warms my hearth and keeps me going. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
