Fund Dawson's Life-Changing Surgery

Donation protected
Dawson lost the genetic lottery!! Lisa took him to a specialist in Madison and through their exam they were able to find that he was born with poor conformation and tibial defects. These conformational defects mean he has been walking around for two years in pain. His tibias are positioned incorrectly; they slide across the femur forward at the stifle (knee). This structural difference causes extra wear on the ligaments in both legs, leading to rupture of both cranial cruciate ligaments (same as the ACL in humans). The only fix for this is a TPLO surgery on both of his knees. This correction will not only fix the ligament issue, but also correct the placement of his tibia letting him be able to walk pain free for the first time ever. Both legs are so bad the specialist is recommending getting them done at the same time because he doesn’t currently have “one good leg to stand on.”

Anyone that has met Dawson knows he is very curious and interested in people, but also seems to have a short temper. This also might change with the surgery once he is no longer in pain. His entire disposition could change.

Lisa is an avid hiker and loves camping and being outdoors. She would love to get to take him with her again and start letting him be a dog. Dawson enjoys hanging out at his grandparents’ lake house, swimming, and playing with the neighbors’ dogs. He enjoys going to the farm and running around chasing gophers and other critters in the grass. He especially loves chasing squirrels in the backyard. Dawson is currently on leash restriction; he is only allowed very short walks to go to the bathroom - no running, jumping, or playing with his brothers Yukon and Redd. This restriction will continue until he has the surgery. Unfortunately, not having the surgery is not an option. Pain medication will not fix or solve the issue and time will only make it worse.

Please help me help my best friend help one of her best friends walk again, run again, and play again! Help Dawson be a dog again! This money would be going toward his surgery, physical therapy, and follow-up appointments and care.
