Fund Coby the Brit's Urgent Medical Needs

Donation protected
Coby is our precious 5-year-old British shorthair cat who is in need of emergency surgery. He is in the pet hospital right now for the third time in two months for urinary blockages. He had a surgery to remove bladder stones about a month ago, and, unfortunately, he is in need of another surgery. This joint cystotomy and perineal urethrotomy will hopefully end his bladder troubles for good! We love Coby with all of our hearts, and want to give him the long, full, happy life that he deserves for all of the joy he has brought to us.

The sad reality is that his emergency needs have inflated his vet costs beyond what we are able to afford, and what it would have cost if we had the time to do these procedures preventatively. We are hoping to raise at least $7000 to put towards the costs of his current hospitalization and upcoming surgery. Anything we are able to raise beyond this initial target will be used towards financial recovery from the last surgery, follow-up care, prescription costs, and consultation with a veterinary nutritionist.

About Coby... Coby came into our lives with his sister Phoebe as fosters shortly after the loss of our longtime family cat, Simba, who crossed the rainbow bridge at the ripe age of 18. With his similar coloring and affectionate disposition, Coby filled the lonely spots of our home and brought priceless healing to our hearts. When the original owner found they could no longer take Coby and Phoebe back, we embraced the idea of being their furr-ever home and have not looked back. Coby is a bright spot of joy to everyone who gets to meet him: his tail is rarely not curled up in sociable curiosity, his high-pitched meow could charm a mouse, and he will always roll over for a good belly rub.

About his mama... I am a full-time nursing student, only one year away from completing my bachelor's of science in nursing. My intensive accelerated program and irregular schedule means that it has been difficult to work regularly and more than part-time. I work as a barista in the early mornings before lecture and clinical, and am working on finding employment in hospital administration while I finish up school. Coby has been there through it all - from the 3am alarm clock to the 11pm study session, Coby has supported me. Now that it is my turn to support him, I find my circumstances have me in difficult straits. I have exhausted many avenues, and am awaiting determination on multiple applications for pet emergency financial assistance from multiple non-profit pet organizations. I have been deeply humbled by the support I have received so far from friends and family, and greatly appreciate any support I can receive from you!
