My name is Julián Tijerín, from a small town in southern Spain called Bodonal de la Sierra.

Since I was a teenager, I decided to study Biology to get to know this world a little better and to be able to help save it from an increasingly evident climatic catastrophe.

After traveling and working in Central America, where I have developed my work as a researcher for more than three years, I decided to settle back in my hometown. The effects of Climate Change are not only felt in the jungle, but in all the ecosystems of the planet. Even more so in a place like this with the Sahara desert stalking the entire southern part of the Iberian Peninsula.

Yes, our Mediterranean climate is beginning to feel the effects of Climate Change (prolonged droughts, storms, rising temperatures, etc).

My idea as an environmental professional is to investigate and quantify the effects of the afore-mentioned Climate Change. For this I am developing a project in which I try to find out to what extent this environmental variation is affecting the area where I live and to have reliable data on its true scope and the consequences it will have for this sensitive area.

Most of the economy in the area is supported by the Quercus species (such as Quercus ilex or Quercus suber), which are highly threatened by these climatic variations.

Regional and national governments seem to care little about this situation and the money invested in climate change research is almost non-existent.

Therefore, I request help from anyone who can give even a couple of euros.

I do not seek to profit from this project; It is purely personally financed and all data and invoices will be published as soon as we have sufficient funding to purchase the materials.

Amantes de la Ciencia! Amantes de la Vida!

Mi nombre es Julián Tijerín, procedente de un pueblecito del sur de España llamado Bodonal de la Sierra.

Mi historia comienza desde que, siendo adolescente, decidí estudiar Biología para conocer este mundo un poco mejor y poder ayudar a salvar nuestro mundo de una catástrofe climática cada vez más evidente. 

Después de viajar y trabajar en Centroamérica, donde he desarrollado mi labor como investigador por más de tres años, decidí asentarme en mi pueblo natal. Notando cómo los efectos del Cambio Climático no sólo se sienten en las selvas, sino en todos los ecosistemas del planeta. Más aún si cabe en un lugar como este con el desierto del Sáhara acechando toda la parte sur de la Península Ibérica.

Sí, nuestro clima mediterráneo empieza a sentir los efectos del Cambio Climático (sequías prolongadas, tormentas, ascenso de las temperaturas, etc).

Mi idea como profesional del medio ambiente es investigar y cuantificar los efectos de este mencionado Cambio Climático. Para ello me encuentro desarrollando un proyecto con el cuál intento averiguar hasta que punto está afectando esta variación ambiental a la zona donde vivo y poder tener datos feacientes sobre su verdadero alcance y las consecuencias que tendrá para esta zona tremendamente sensible a estos cambios. 

La mayor parte de la economía de la zona la sostienen especies de Quercus (como Quercus ilex o Quercus suber). Especies que se encuentran altamente amenazadas por estas variaciones climáticas. 

Los gobiernos regionales y nacionales poco parece importarle esta situación y el dinero invertido en la investigación del cambio climático es casi inexistente.

Por estos motivos solicito ayuda a toda persona que mínimamente pueda colaborar. 

No busco lucrarme con este proyecto; es puramente personal y todos los datos y facturas aparecerán publicados en cuanto tenga la financiación suficiente para comprar los materiales.
