2/24 - SCROLL TO SEE EDIT
My name is Misty. My spouse is Cal.
I am fundraising for top surgery for Cal.
Cal is trans. For as long as I can remember, Cal has never felt comfortable in their body. A few years ago, they started their journey by taking testosterone. This has greatly eased their gender dysphoria. But it's not enough. To live a life free from stress and worry, Cal would like top surgery.
If you know anything about the gender affirming care path, it took us a few years to get to the point where insurance would even accept or allow Cal to get the surgery they need. Doctors visits, letters from mental health professionals, a conclusive search to find a surgeon in network as well as a whole list of hoops Cal had to jump through to get this far. They are so close to feeling comfortable in their own body. We have insurance approval as well as a surgeon on board to do the surgery. They only thing holding Cal back is the financial aspect.
We are fundraising for $4000. The surgeon needs a deposit of $5447.25 before they will book the surgery. We have until April to raise the funds they need.
This whole year has been hard, both financially and with our mental health, more so Cal's than mine. We lost my mother last year on 2/13 after a brief and financially devastating trip with moving her downstate to Waterville for hospice. You all helped us see my mother through that, something I cannot even being to express thanks for. On 2/14, the day after my mom died, we woke to my precious cat Obs being covered in her own blood. That day we paid almost $3k in vet bills to take care of her abscessed and broken teeth. I've exhausted the Care Credit options with that bill, something we are still paying off now.
I know things are tight and scary. Any helps, shares, donations, would be so appreciated.
Every single day, for their piece of mind, Cal goes through the arduous task of binding by tape for work and for life. One hour every single day is lost to this task. They cannot wear a standard binder or bras due to their physical condition, which includes nerve pain in their back, arms, and neck. In addition to this, they suffer from tendonitis in both arms and arthritis in their hands. Life hasn't been easy for them. These past few years haven't been easy for them.
Thank you so much for your consideration with this.
Misty (& Cal)
EDIT - As of today with the generosity of you guys and of Cals parents, we have met our donation goal. Your support truly means the world to Cal. Thank you again!
