Bria's Journey
Our daughter, Bria, was hospitalized April 2024. She fainted at school and went to the emergency room. In the emergency room, she went into cardiac arrest and the medical team performed CPR for a total of 3 hours, because her heart was starting and stopping.
They finally got her on life support and only gave her a 10% chance of living. She was on a machine called ECHMO that was doing the work of her heart and ventilation of her lungs. After 4 days her heart began working on it's own and about 3-4 days later she was off ventilation!
God truly performed a miracle right before our eyes! However, while on the ECHMO machine, the cannula in her leg that provided support to her heart, cut off the circulation to her right leg and in the midst of her life being saved she lost her leg and now is an above the knee amputee.
We have come to learn that Bria was born with a heart anomaly that caused sudden cardiac arrest in spite of living an athletic life of dance and track for 15 years! She will require cardiac surgery to correct the heart problem. We are requesting financial assistance to help with the MANY doctor visits, family lifestyle adjustments, reduced work schedule, and settling into our "new normal" in relation to her heart issue, surgery and amputation.
