Fund Brakelight Pictures' 70s Dance Drama
Donation protected
Help us fund our next short film STRAIGHTEN THAT LEG! This is a story about two dancers who are caught in a confusing entanglement of love and power dynamics. The film takes place in the late '70s and is set during an impromptu rehearsal between Leanne Palmer, a dancer who has risen to massive success, and Jerome Verne, a dancer who has left the limelight to become a teacher. Throughout this rehearsal, the dancers have to decide if they fall into their old ways or move forward, no matter how difficult that might be.
STRAIGHTEN THAT LEG will be shot on beautiful 16mm film and feature an original jazz score. The choreography will be a jazz-ballet fusion pulling from Bob Fosse and George Balanchine. It aims to evoke films like ALL THAT JAZZ, FACES, and a myriad of French New Wave films.
Brakelight has secured some funding for the project from excited investors and are looking to get extra funds to ensure we can execute all of our dreams while also paying our lovely cast and crew.
Brakelight Pictures is excited to be making another narrative film. The team includes Jonas Bishop Hayes (writer/director), Zoe Garrick (Producer), Beatrice Perez-Arche (Producer/Intimacy Coordinator), Katie Mlinek (Cinematographer) and Joel Perez (Executive Producer).
