Fund Brain Aneurysm Surgery
Donation protected
Hello, my name is George. I am a 54 year old father of two amazing daughters and one equally amazing 3-year-old granddaughter. I'm not entirely sure how to even begin, so I figure I'll start with the diagnosis.
On August 1, 2023, I was diagnosed with a 9mm x 6mm aneurysm at the tip of the basilar artery in my brain. I met with the neurosurgeon that the hospital ER referred me to and he said that, due to the size and location of the aneurysm, and my age, that surgical intervention is necessary. I have been out of work, on workers comp, for some time now due to a fall from a lift at work. Six months after the fall my employer dropped my medical insurance and I do not qualify for medicaid or any other assistance in the area of medical insurance. I currently receive $1,808 per month from workers comp and struggle to make ends meet on that amount. My apartment rent alone is $1,025 per month. The arteriogram that the neurosurgeon needs to do to determine which procedure he would do to repair the aneurysm (either clipping or coiling) costs almost a month of my income, at $1,372, which must be paid up front for the surgeon to even schedule the arteriogram. That is just the surgeon's fee and does not include the hospital fees. It is difficult to find exactly how much these clipping or coiling procedures will cost, but from the most recent estimates that I could find online, the range is from $70k to upwards of $100k. If I were given a 30% self-pay discount, which I understand many hospitals do, I would still be looking at $49k to $70k. These figures also assume no complications during surgery nor do they account for follow-up care like MRI's, CT scans, possible physical or speech therapies, etc. I don't have the credit score or the income to borrow that much money. Even if the hospital would allow me to finance at 72 months the payments could be as high as $1,400 a month. So, in desperation, I turn to you all here. To my family, my friends, to any compassionate soul with the means to help with ANY amount at all. I honestly would appreciate any donation at all. I would also be very grateful if you all could share this campaign on social media. Maybe help to reach outside of the circle of my friends and family. I also, of course, would appreciate any and all prayers and positive, healing thoughts.
Please help me get this fixed before it ruptures.
With humility, gratitude and love,
