Fund Boreholes for Villages in Singida,Tanzania

Hi, my name is Kelsey and I am fundraising for the villages of Dominiki and Mwangeza in the region of Singida, Tanzania to have boreholes drilled to give them access to drinking water. The borehole in Domiki has gone dry due to climate change, and they are currently travelling 12 to 20 km to get water from neighboring villages and a stream. Mwangeza is also in need of a borehole to get water. They would like more boreholes and deeper boreholes, so when the water level recedes, the well is deep enough to still contain water. The goal is to have more points of access to water and for the boreholes to have enough capacity to withstand climate change.

Below, I have the components of the borehole / well and prices each component was in 2021 for the borehole drilled in a neighboring village.

Staff and village officials outside the Domiki clinic. They don't have enough water for their patients or their own needs.

In 2020-2021 I helped a neighboring village recieve funding for a borehole through a grant. The cost was around $7,800. For a deeper boring, this could be greater. I have started the goal at $10,000 to fund at least one borehole at a time. I am not sure how the prices compare to what it was back then.

Tanzania is not supported by gofundme, therefore, my plan is to recieve the funds and wire it to them. I have worked with the community in the past. The funds will get wired to the community-based organization called The Hakika Group. The Hakiki Group reached out to me to help find funding for the water shortage issue. Unfortunately, many groups that I have applied for in the past and new groups I have reached out to have too many projects ongoing and don't have the means to assist with this project. So I am trying to raise it on my own through gofundme.

This is the bill of quantity used for the borehole drilled to 80 m in a neighboring village in 2021. The components and prices were from the locals. With the water table decreasing, we aren't sure how deep they have have to go to hit water and they would have to be well beyond the depth of water to ensure there is enough water year round. This is in Tanzanian Shillings (tsh).

There are some typos in the bill of quantity, but that is the typical breakdown of what all goes into the borehole. The boreholes are then fitted with piping, a pump and concrete to be a well that supplies water.

Again, we hope to have multiple boreholes installed in both villages, a minimum of at least one in each village.
