My dad is my hero and my mentor. I can also say without question that he is a hero to my mother Cindy and to each of the 10 siblings in that photo as well. In fact, there is no camera lens large enough or field wide enough to accurately represent the number of lives that have been changed by knowing my dad. He is an incredible father, pastor, mentor, counselor, business owner, employer, and lover of God and people.

Two weeks ago, we learned that he has cancer. Stage 4 melanoma, to be exact. It's aggressive, and the prognosis is not good. This type of cancer typically does not respond to conventional treatments. Following the counsel of his doctor and with the encouragement of his family, we want to send him out of state to a special cancer treatment clinic called New Hope Unlimited.

New Hope offers a 12-day program of therapeutic treatments aimed at enabling the body's own defenses to attack the cancer cells in his body. After this 12-day intensive, he will return to primary care, where his oncologist will evaluate his progress, and create an ongoing treatment plan. This special program will cost $38000 plus travel and stay.

We believe that God is good no matter what happens. In talking to my dad, you wouldn't even know he was sick - such is his faith. Praise God!
