Hi friends!
This is Katie Rubin.
For those of you I have not met, I am the Artistic Director of Sixth Line Studios, a new professional theater company in the Bay Area.
This March, we’re producing our second show, The 39 Steps, and we are incredibly excited to be bringing it to life at the beautiful Village Theater in Danville, CA!
We are very very lucky because we have enough funding to make this production happen — That said, theater is expensive, and our current budget doesn’t fully cover some basic professional needs.
Right now, we can only afford to hire one Equity (union, dues-paying) actor, and we can’t fully cover things like workers’ comp, unemployment insurance, snacks and merch for our lobby, and a second Equity Actor's Salary.
If you’re able to contribute, your support would have a very real and immediate impact.
As a long-time working stage actor myself, I have personally benefited from the generosity of subscribers and patrons of the arts like yourself for the entirety of my career.
I wouldn't have been able to do half the shows I've done had donors like you not provided housing, food, volunteer support and funds to many of the companies I've performed with over the years.
Sixth Line Studios is committed to producing the highest quality work, to hiring diverse and local teams of the most professional and talented designers, actors, and artists the Bay Area has to offer.
We just need your help to bring our full vision to life!
The 39 Steps is a fast-paced comedy where 4 actors play 139 roles!
At a moment when the world is stressful, tense and intense, we wanted to provide a bit of levity, distraction and laughs this Spring.
We know this is a moment when everyone is being asked to give, and we don’t take that lightly.
If you’re moved to support us, you would be helping keep professional theater ALIVE in the Bay Area during a time when giants in our industry are having to close their doors.
Thank you for reading, for cheering us on, and for being part of our beginnings!
We look forward to continuing to inspire, challenge and entertain you for years to come!
With gratitude,
Katie
