Fund Anointed’s Recovery from Cerebral Malaria
Donation protected
Hello Everyone,
my name is Emily Hartwig and I could really use your help! I am currently raising emergency funds to help provide medical care and adequate housing for my 11 year old sister in-law, Anointed, who lives in Yenagoa, Nigeria.
A week ago Anointed began to fall very sick and was rushed to the nearest hospital where days later she was diagnosed with advanced malaria due to her living conditions. Due to the severity of the virus, it has spread to her brain causing cerebral Malaria, putting her in an induced coma. Anointed is in desperate need of oxygen and any immediate donations will keep her on oxygen tanks and stable as the family is struggling to keep up with the costs at the hospital.
Currently Anointed, the youngest of 9, lives with her siblings in an unfinished building and relies solely on her older sisters to care for her. The house they live in has half of a roof and only 2 completed rooms, forcing the family to condense themselves into 1 room for living. All of the incomplete rooms flood during rainy seasons creating the ideal environment for mosquitoes.
Other expenses include:
- Medication and direct medical care
- Materials to complete the roof of the house
- Supplies to finish the other rooms in the house and raise the foundation to avoid standing water
- Labor needed to complete the house
- Mosquito nets for the sleeping quarters
- Rehabilitation costs post coma
Please help us take care of our sister, and ensure her safe recovery. Any amount is greatly appreciated and all initial donations will go directly to medical expenses and keeping Anointed on oxygen and stable.
This page will be updated with any changes to Anointed’s medical state, check back here for progress.
Thank to our community for helping us during this hard time. Without you all we wouldn’t be able to get this amazing little girl the care that she so desperately needs.
Stay healthy, stay safe.
