Dear Family & Friends:

My daughter, Anaya Simpson-Crumpley, is a rising senior at Oakland School of the Arts. She is currently studying visual arts and has an emerging passion for photography as well, often doing shoots of live band performances at Victory Stables, a local music venue in downtown Oakland.

She has recently applied and was accepted to California State Summer School of the Arts. Anaya successfully competed against kids across the state and country. Only 5% of the student body are Black youth, so this is a wonderful and rare opportunity to further refine her skills.

This experience would also allow her to stay on campus at California Institute of Arts (CalArts) while she attends classes. Unfortunately, since we initially applied for this opportunity, my job ended. Though we applied for a scholarship, we were not awarded any funds to support her participation.

I am asking for your support that to make this experience a reality for her. The tuition is $5000 to cover course instruction and dorm accommodations. We are also asking for an additional $1000 to cover the cost of 3 weekend field trips that are not covered by tuition.

Her tuition must be paid May 23rd so time is of the essence!
