Help us bring FOUR of our new shows to life with young Chicago performers!
WHAT'S JUPITER?
We're the Jupiter Opera Development Foundation, an incubator that develops new opera scores with a queer aesthetic center.
WHY DO WE NEED MONEY?
Our workshop performers need to get paid to show you our latest creations. These demos will be recorded and available free on YouTube, and the scores will be available soon on the Jupiter website.
WHAT ARE THE SHOWS?
This season, our projects in development include:
1. GODRIC ON THE RIVER, created with composer Rosśa Crean, is the tale of a medieval hermit living among the animals on a riverbank. An oratorio that combines Catholicism and witchiness, it speaks to all of us who'd rather bugger off into the woods this year.
2. THE BOOK OF NINHURSAGA, a short sci-fi drama composed by Jodi Goble, imagines an ecologically trashed planet in the eyes of a morally gray alien with salvific (or destructive) powers.
3. THE TRANSCENDANT is a full length drama about trans grief and recovery, composed by Misha Dutka with a narrative based on a true story.
4. We're also presenting "The Battle of Brandywine (Men Like Us)" by composer Vince Gover, a concert aria about the historically intersex Polish hero of the Revolutionary War, Casimir Pulaski. Exhaustively researched by librettist Jude O'Dell with help from the Polish Museum of America in Chicago, the stirring strains of this jaunty battle cry affirm that America, indeed, belongs to us all.
WHO'S SINGING?
Here are a few of the amazing performers who want to demo these scores for you! Each musician needs to study the new music and show up for a long day of rehearsing and recording in Chicago.
ARIEL ANDREW, soprano
KATHERINE BRUTON, soprano
SOL ADAM LEHMAN, countertenor
ORION ELROD, tenor

SOLAMADA PANDO GIRARD, baritone
We're also asking for funds to pay pianist Jennifer Allor and Peckham Media Productions, a recording outfit here in Chicago.
YOU CAN MAKE OUR DREAMS COME TRUE...
With a few dollars and/or some kind words on social media, you could bring so much joy into the LGBT community this year. Now more than ever, we need and deserve to sing, dance, and laugh, and we can't do it without your support.
Please help us bring these brilliant new shows to life!
