Have you ever looked into the eyes of an orangutan trapped in a cage? ... Those Orangs who have been wounded with machetes or bullets and left for dead after palm oil companies have annihilated their forest in exchange for plantations. The baby orangutans left behind are sold to suburbia to be raised like human babies. That might sound cute, but that's not the life these beautiful creatures are supposed to live. They need the forests to live freely in, but sadly there are few forests left. In fact the Orangutan is now on the extreme endangered list because of deforestation.

There are foundations like BOSF (Borneo orangutan Survival Foundation) who are working tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate and release these orangutans. They desperately need your help to continue this incredible work. As well they need to buy more land so that the Orangs have a safe place to be released. Owning land will stop palm oil plantations or coal mining companies from buying and destroying these forests.

Orangutan sanctuaries like Samboja Lestari in Borneo is where Orangutans are being rehabilitated. Please take a look at the video and you will get the bigger picture. The person responsible for leading this mammoth task is Dr. Jamartin Sihite, a dedicated, passionate orangutan activist who will stop at nothing to see all of the orangutans released from cages. https://www.facebook.com/jamartin.sihite

But there is not enough finance to fund all of this work. The land that still needs to be purchased; the man-made islands that still need to be built; the carers and keepers that need to get paid for caring for the orangs in these sanctuaries and forest schools 24/7 …and finally the ultimate release back into the wild. The work is endless. Your donation will be able to ensure that this is all attainable and will help towards saving the orangutan from extinction.

I have just volunteered at the Samboja Lestari Orangutan Sanctuary in Borneo… an eye-opening experience. The volunteers worked tirelessly building structures on the islands for the Orangs, feeding them, collecting their food, making enrichment for them. It was so rewarding. I have come back determined to help the orangutan. My passion is now my purpose and I am reaching out to you to please help fund this cause.

All donations are tax deductable, so whether you choose to donate $20 or $1000, you will be contributing towards the protection of the forests of Borneo and the ultimate survival of the orangutan.
