Friends and family! Adrianne has some exciting news to share with you! Adrianne has
been selected to represent one of six USA National teams to play softball, at one of
the highest levels internationally. She will be competing in the Netherlands, (European
Rules), against world-renowned athletes. These athletes include the number two
pitcher in the world, Eva Voortman; Dutch pitcher, Marjolein Merkx; past, present, and
future Olympians, and international Professional Softball Players.
Adrianne was invited to be interviewed to have this opportunity by one of the
coaches, Jason Yakey, who is the head coach 1 of the 6 USA National teams that
compete in this tournament. After her interview with Kirt Whiteside, she was asked to
join one of the teams and now will start training for this event that takes place in the
Netherlands in January 2025.
When her team arrives in the Netherlands, they will play in what is called the most
prestigious indoor tournament in the world because of the extremely competitive
teams. European rules are different, the floor is like a gymnasium, the ball is different,
the bases are closer, and line drives only due to being indoors. This is going to be a
really fun adventure to watch Adrianne challenge herself in this new way. We are
hoping to video document this journey on a platform, so Adrianne has a way to look
back and to also show other athletes interested how this works!
That is only the softball part, there is a whole other portion to this opportunity that will
make this even more amazing. While overseas her team will get the opportunity to
visit a lot of WWII areas, Anne Frank’s home, areas where mass executions happened
in rail cars, Rotterdam, and also Paris, France for 2 days. She also will have the
opportunity to help coach other girls in the Netherlands in a clinic that are interested
in softball.
Wesley and I have no words to explain how proud we are of Adrianne, her hard work
and perseverance is inspiring to everyone who meets her. After her diagnosis and her
surgery, recovery, and her teenage indecisiveness (lol), when Adrianne does commit,
she is in 100%, we would’ve been proud no matter what the outcome, her willingness
to be so fearless, is something so special to witness.
The USA athletes are not sponsored teams (YET!), 1.3 million viewers though, so
maybe ya’ll know someone that may want to get in on that action, the athletes and
families are 100% responsible for the cost. Adrianne has decided to sell sponsorships
on t-shirts that she will wear while training, and traveling, and everywhere in between.
She is also planning on the video diary possibly with crowd-sourcing for fundraising.
The organization that holds this tournament and provides this opportunity to athletes
in the USA is 100% transparent with costs. It is $4250 per person. She is required to
have one parent attend. All information is available on the website
https://www.indoorcup.org. If you or anyone you know would like to purchase a
sponsorship spot please share and we can
send the information to them for spots. Adrianne will be reaching out very soon to
many of you, personally to ask.
We would just like to thank the so many of you that have poured into Adrianne when
she started this journey 12 years ago. Each of you that have been just a follower or a
active participant, coaching, giving a ride, giving money, buying laundry detergent,
candles, cakes, golf outings, and every other thing she has sold, sharing videos,
cheering her on, making her smile when she was down on herself, being her
teammate, you have ALL made this happen, Adrianne, Wesley and I couldn’t be more
thankful for your support. This is all for you to celebrate. Thank you!!!
Love,
