Fund Aa’Myah's Urgent Relocation for 4th Open Heart Surgery
Donation protected
My name is Josephine Barlow, my goal is to raise money for my great granddaughter. My Great granddaughter Aa’Myah needs a heart TRANSPLANT According to Seattle and Portland, Moving to Texas to see if they can do anything else if not, heart transplant is what she will have!! Aa’Myah was born with 2 major heart problems. (and became paralyzed from a common cold at the age of 4) The first one is Hypo-plastic Left Heart Syndrome (meaning the left side of her heart is underdeveloped). She had her first surgery when she was four days old and a second surgery when she was six months old.
Her other heart problem is her Tricuspid valve, for which she had a Tricuspid Valve repair surgery at the age of three years old! She was supposed to have a fourth heart surgery to complete the stages of her being born with a half a heart, but when she was four years old, tragically in April 2020, my granddaughter became sick with a common cold which triggered a disease called Transverse Myelitis, causing her to be paralyzed from the waist down and losing all bladder and bowel functions.
Since becoming paralyzed, she’s no longer a candidate for her 4th open heart surgery. We would normally go to Portland, Oregon but due to my granddaughter becoming paralyzed, and considering no one in the history of medical has been born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome and also paralyzed, they don’t have enough research or technology to properly care for Aa’Myah. The Alaska medical system has exhausted all of its resources and she has thankfully been referred out to a higher level of care at Texas Children’s Hospital.
We are asking for help to relocate to Houston, Texas. Where she can get the proper care for cardiology needs so she can be prepared for her next heart surgery. Her doctor recommends we move in the next 2 to 3 months, due to her health declining. Her mother is a single mom of three kids and needs help. The funding will go towards:
4 plane tickets
Securing a Home: Ensuring a safe and stable environment for her children that is also handicap accessible
Shipping belongings and medical equipment
