Fund Secret Thoughts

Do you ever wonder: Am I unique? Do I have a soul? Is there a ghost in the machine? Well, you’re not the first, and you won’t be the last. Here is the premise of 'Secret Thought' the play that I will be directing in July at the Omnibus Theatre.

For those who don’t know me, my name is Paloma. I am a French- born, London-based theatre maker. I studied at Central Saint Martins and started off as a stage designer for dance, circus and theatre productions that went on to the Sadler’s well and the Roundhouse. Not long after graduating from Central Saint Martin, I resumed my acting training and joined the London School of Dramatic Art.

Pour ceux qui ne me connaissent pas, je m'appelle Paloma. Je suis française et je fais du théâtre en anglais à Londres. J'ai étudié à Central Saint Martin et j'ai commencé comme scénographe pour des productions de danse, de cirque et de théâtre qui se sont poursuivies dans des lieux prestigieux comme le Sadler’s Well et à la Roundhouse. Peu de temps après avoir obtenu mon diplôme de Central Saint Martin, j'ai repris ma formation d'acteur et j'ai intégré la London School of Dramatic Art.

Rich from these experiences, I embarked on my directorial debut in 2018, with Medea (Camden Fringe - Cockpit theatre, Reading Fringe Festival and Brighton Fringe - Purple Playhouse) which was the first production of Wretched Strangers, the theatre company that I co-founded with Camille Wilhelm, Massimo Guasti et Piotr Mirowski. The company aims to give a voice to immigrant artists living in the United Kingdom.

Riche de ces expériences, je me suis lancée dans la mise scène en 2018, avec Medée (Camden Fringe - Cockpit theatre, Reading Fringe Festival et Brighton Fringe - Purple Playhouse) qui était la première production de Wretched Strangers, la compagnie de théâtre que j'ai co-fondée avec Camille Wilhelm, Massimo Guasti et Piotr Mirowski. La compagnie a pour objet de donner la parole aux artistes immigrés vivant au Royaume-Uni.

In 2020 I was selected to join the Stonecrabs Directors in Practice Programme for which I directed my adaptation of Secret Thought by David Lodge. I worked on it throughout the pandemic and got to stage it for one night at Southwark Playhouse. I am restaging Secret Thoughts as part of the AI Festival that I am curating at Omnibus Theatre and I need your help.

En 2020, j’ai été sélectionnée pour rejoindre le programme Stonecrabs Directors in Practice pour lequel j'ai réalisé une adaptation de Secret Thought de David Lodge. J'ai travaillé sur ce texte tout au long de la pandémie et j’ai pu le mettre en scène pour une représentation au Theatre Southwark Playhouse. Je suis en train de le produire à nouveau pour AI Festival que j'ai créé au théâtre de l’Omnibus. C'est dans ce cadre que je sollicite votre aide.

In the current climate, it is nearly impossible to get public funding and so I am self-funding this production. This Time Secret Thought will be running for a week and will be the opportunity for me to showcase my skills as an emerging director and will be the opportunity to invite professionals to see and build connections that will boost my career.

Aujourd'hui, il est extrêment difficile d'obtenir des fonds publics, aussi je finance moi-même cette production. En juillet, Secret Thought sera jouée pendant une semaine. Elle me donnera l'occasion de montrer mon travail de metteur en scène et d’inviter des professionnels à assister à une pièce qui compte beaucoup pour moi et pour le déroulement de ma carrère.
