My name is Kristie and I am a mom, teacher, and wife. As a teacher of history and geography, I know that the world is a big place full of history, people, knowledge, and opportunity. In an effort to broaden the knowledge, opportunity, and life experience of my students, a fellow teacher and I are taking a group of students to Europe, specifically Germany, Italy, and Switzerland, in June of 2027. In Germany, we will visit Dachau—a former Nazi Concentration Camp, Hofbrauhaus, Harburg Castle, with many other stops. In Venice, we will visit St. Mark’s Basilica, Juliet’s House, a glass-blowing factory, and more. In Switzerland, we will travel to the top of the Alps, visit Lucerne, the most beautiful parts of the Black Forest, and many other adventurous locations. This 10-day trip is completely funded by the students going on the trip. There are 3 teachers who will be chaperoning the trip as well. The students attending the trip are required to participate in fundraising, be of good academic standing (passing all classes), and be free of behavioral issues/discipline referrals. We have invited students of diverse backgrounds and economic statuses.
The majority of our students are low-income, displaced, or from historically underrepresented communities, and this journey represents not just travel, but a rare and transformative chance to broaden their worldview. Your sponsorship would directly help cover the costs of travel, lodging, passports, meals, and educational activities for students who otherwise would not have the means to participate. Every contribution—large or small—will make a profound impact.
The $15,000 goal will fully fund 3 student trips. There are currently 18 students registered for the trip and fundraising actively. $15,000 is not the “end” goal, but a starting block for funding this “Once in a Lifetime” trip.
