Hi, I’m Rena—chronic illness and invisible disability advocate. I’m raising funds for a service dog trained to support me as I navigate life with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) and VVS (Vasovagal Syncope).
—— Why a Service Dog?
POTS and VVS affect my daily functioning—causing dizziness, fainting episodes, rapid heart rate, and unpredictable fatigue. These symptoms make everyday activities not only challenging but sometimes unsafe. A service dog would provide life-changing support by:
- Alerting to shifts in heart rate and early signs of fainting
- Providing deep pressure therapy and grounding techniques
- Retrieving medication, water, and emergency items
- Assisting with stability and mobility during episodes
- Offering emotional support and companionship during recovery
This isn’t just about convenience—it’s about reclaiming independence, safety, and peace of mind.
After researching carefully, I’ve found programs that specifically train Labradoodles for POTS-related tasks. They’re known for intelligence, calm temperament, and hypoallergenic coats—an ideal match for my needs. But the costs are substantial: training alone will cost $6000, not including travel and care essentials.
—— How You Can Help
Every contribution helps bring me closer to living with more stability and dignity. Funds will go toward:
- Service dog purchase or training ($6k goal)
- Vet care, food, and gear
- Ongoing training support
Even if you can’t donate, sharing this campaign means the world. Thank you for being part of this journey, and for seeing the value of accessibility and invisible disability support.
